Opportunities - for your company

Lund has a university that is consistently ranked among the world's hundred best and a number of large companies. The city of Lund is also home to an innovation system with many players who further accelerate the emergence of new ideas and companies – including one of Sweden's six innovation platforms for sustainable and smart cities.

Ultrasound, Bluetooth, asthma medicine, Hövding bike helmets and the artificial kidney - all are innovations that have come from Lund. Lund’s world-leading university is one of the main drivers of innovation, but Lund also has a tradition of working with innovations and an innovation system ready to receive the new ideas that emerge.

History was made in 1983 when the first companies moved into the incubator that would become the Ideon area. Ideon Science Park is Sweden's first research village and today houses around 400 companies, particularly those focused on science, sustainability and technology. It is run by Wihlborgs Fastigheter AB, Lund University and Lund Municipality, and is a meeting place for innovators, entrepreneurs and venture capital.

Since the start of Ideon, Lund’s innovation movement has gained momentum and there are many arenas that work to boost the region's innovation strength.

Lund Municipality runs one of these arenas - Future by Lund - a platform that works for smart and sustainable solutions for growing cities, and is one of six innovation platforms in Sweden. It is funded by Vinnova and Lund Municipality and consists of about 70 organizations from academia, city and industry that together create an innovation culture and offer Lund as a test bed for new ideas. Projects that seek to make the future both easier and more sustainable – such as a free network for those who want to test innovations in the Internet of Things and a test track where electric cars can be charged on the go – are gathered on Future by Lund.

Ideon Innovation offers resources and expertise in business development, management and financing, primarily for technology-based companies. In 2017, Ideon Innovation launched The Yes Way, an initiative to create new platforms for women’s ideas, networks and business development.
